UKRAINIANS IN OUR LIVES
A travelling photo exhibition and book about Ukrainians living in Denmark
๐ February 24, 2026

About the Project
We are creating a travelling photo exhibition and book about Ukrainians living in Denmark โ their hopes, challenges, and the everyday moments that make life continue, even in difficult times. The project is led by documentary storyteller Mette Foged and photographer Liselotte Plenov and will premiere on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen on February 24, marking the day of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Why this project?
So that Danish society can see us closer:
- How we integrate
- How we interact with Danes
- How we build a new reality after losing our homes
- And at the same time โ how grateful we are for Denmark's support
This is not about "pity". It is about mutual understanding, gratitude, and integration. It is about Denmark seeing not only our pain but also how we live here, work, study, raise children, and build a new life. So that next to Danes, they see not "refugees", but people, neighbors, friends, colleagues.
We are looking for
Ukrainians across Denmark who would like to share their story and be photographed as part of this project. Your story will help create understanding, connection, and dialogue between Danes and Ukrainians.
- You donโt need any experience โ just a willingness to share a glimpse of your life in Denmark.
- Participation includes a short interview and a portrait session.
- We will ensure a respectful, safe, and comfortable process at every step.
